Foundation of Trust
Every healthy relationship must be grounded on a firm foundation of trust, otherwise, it is doomed right from the start. There will be fighting, suspicion, anger, doubt, accusations, and eventually it will explode like an erupting volcano. A relationship without trust is like a car that needs gas to run. You can sit in a car, but without fuel you can’t go anywhere! Sometimes you get so comfortable putting up with a toxic relationship that you settle for unhappiness. But until you change your thinking, you will always recycle your experiences. You will never have real joy, peace, or love if you’re not grounded in Christ Jesus, for He IS love! If you are miserable and tired of the hurt, drama, and pain, choose to make Jesus first in your life and in your home. This won’t happen, however, until your desire to change becomes greater than your desire to stay the same. Pray for God to give you Holy Spirit power to change your life and help you to be more trusting and less suspicious, to be more loving and less argumentative, and most of all, to be more like Jesus so you can build relationships on a foundation of trust that only comes from God.
Text:
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. (Proverbs 10:9, ESV)
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. (Ephesians 4:25, ESV)
Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! (Psalms 40:4, ESV)
16 These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace;
17 do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and love no false oath, for all these things I hate, declares the LORD." (Zechariah 8:16, ESV)
