Perfection Not Required
Christians sometimes become discouraged because, no matter how hard they try, they stumble and fall. Perhaps they struggle with swearing and have prayed for God to break the habit, but just when they think they’ve won the victory, they bang their head on a cabinet. Before realizing it, they hear those ugly curse words coming from their mouth, and feeling defeated, the guilt and discouragement set in. Christians love self-improvement and take great pride in being able to rehabilitate themselves. But if people could fix themselves, why would they need a Savior? If you could work hard enough to earn salvation, then why did Christ die on Calvary? The truth is, everyone needs God’s saving grace. It doesn’t matter if you are a prostitute on the street or an evangelist behind a pulpit - everyone needs the saving grace of Jesus Christ! We are all sinners. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Bottom line: you can’t earn your way to heaven. Being born into a Christian home with God-fearing parents doesn’t guarantee you a free ticket, and you can’t earn God’s favor by “being good” and “following all the rules.” All sinners need a Savior and forgiving sins is what Jesus does best! He isn’t waiting for you to be perfect to come to Him. He simply wants you to take the first step in the right direction. His outstretched hand is waiting for you to grasp - reach out and take it today. TEXT: Galatians 2:21, Romans 8:3, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Thessalonians 5:23
