Pain of Betrayal
Psalm 145:17-19
The Lord is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.’
When a friend or family member betrays your trust or does something behind your back to discredit you or ruin your reputation–the pain cuts deep in your heart. It is always much more painful when the person you love is the one causing the pain. People you don’t care about simply don’t have that same power to hurt you. If you are suffering from the pain of betrayal or you feel the enemy is about to attack - arm yourself with God’s Shield of truth. Go to God’s Word and turn to the book of Psalm and you’ll find words of comfort and strength, as well as direction. Psalm 27:11-12 says, “Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence.” And in Psalm 62:5-7, David gives the best advice, “My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.” David had many enemies and He knew his only safety was in God. He expresses vividly how God deals with his enemies in Psalm 63:9-11, “But those who seek my life, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. They shall fall by the sword; They shall be a portion for jackals. But the king shall rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him shall glory; But the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped.” No matter what man might do - stay close to Jesus and He will fight for you. Your enemies are powerless when God is in control!
