I have a question for those who have more horse ownership knowledge than I do. What are your thoughts on barbed wire fencing vs electric fencing? On the listings for the 2 properties we're looking at, one property says it has barbed wire and the other property says it has electric fencing.

Not a horse owner but born on cattle ranch. Electric was used as temporary. Its one wire that can be crawled under jumped over or knocked over. Barb wire is usually 3 or 4 wires with posts driven solidly into ground. Stronger and much more stable. Electric fence can get turned off or shorted and you don't know.
